Tajikistan intends to increase imports of liquefied gas from Turkmenistan. The head of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan D. Juma told the media that the country intends to expand the list of suppliers of this type of fuel, as well as to increase the volume of purchases of Turkmen gas.
The minister said that Tajikistan receives the largest amount of liquefied gas from Kazakhstan and Russia. Now Tajikistan will increase the volume of gas imported from Turkmenistan. Earlier, the two sides agreed to supply this type of fuel of Turkmen production to the Tajik partners without restrictions.
It should be noted that at the end of 2021, Turkmenistan exported 5 thousand tons of liquefied gas to Tajikistan. Last year, Tajikistan imported a total of 410 thousand tons of this type of fuel, of which 360 thousand tons were in Kazakhstan, and the rest in Russia.
The meeting of Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon was a significant milestone in Turkmen-Tajik relations. It resulted in the signing of 19 documents on mutual cooperation. They include partnership in cargo transit, transportation of oil products and liquefied gas, as well as passenger transportation.
