During the conference "Caspian Sea - Sea of Peace and Friendship", Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales made a speech on the development of Turkmen-Iranian partnership in the transportation sector. This is reported on the website of Centralasia.news.
The head of the Iranian diplomatic mission noted that after Russia's approval of Turkmenistan's joining the North-South ITC, his country is also expected to make a positive decision, as Turkmenistan acts as an important link in the transport communication. The Ambassador emphasized that the Mashhad-Serakhs railway route, which runs through Tehran, Mashhad and reaches Serakhs, has great potential. In addition, there is a direct access to the Caspian Sea from Tehran, and in the west there is a route reaching Turkey through Tabriz.
The Ambassador also noted that there is a trilateral railroad Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran. In addition to the four checkpoints, cargoes are transported by road. In this regard, the parties have reached an agreement to reduce tariffs.
