Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan increase container transportation volume

The volume of container transportation between the ports of Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) and Alyat (Azerbaijan) in the first half of 2023 increased by 2.9 times compared to the same period last year. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The total number of containers transported on the Turkmenbashi - Alyat route is 2,362 TEU.
From the port of Turkmenbashi transportation is carried out by feeder vessel "Balkan". As a percentage, the volume of import shipments amounted to 25%, export shipments - 34% and transit shipments - 41%. This indicates an increase in the transit potential of the Turkmen seaport.

In order to increase the volume of cargo transportation between Asia and Europe, the Turkmen delegation visited the Alyat Free Economic Zone and the Baku International Sea Trade Port to discuss further cooperation with Azerbaijan.
