Ashgabat hosted a virtual meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, during which Turkmenistan and Belarus discussed the prospects for the development of business relations and mutually beneficial economic partnership. The participants of the online event were heads and leading specialists of the sectoral ministries of the two countries, as well as representatives of business structures.
Exchanging views, the sides expressed mutual interest in making business ties more active, as well as mutually beneficial partnership. The priority areas, in which the Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation will increase, were also identified. They are the agricultural complex, mechanical engineering, construction, transport and communications, textile and light industry, as well as some other sectors, development of which the President of Turkmenistan has given high priority.
The participants of the online meeting also discussed specific steps to increase trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Belarus. It is also planned to expand the list of goods and services that may be of mutual interest, as well as to increase the volume of existing export-import operations.
Thus, the Turkmen side revealed an interest in supplying buses, agricultural machinery, trucks and elevator equipment made in Belarus. At the same time, they discussed issues related to the work of the Ashgabat branch of the Service Center for machinery from Belarus.
The participants also discussed mutual cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The result of this meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Partnership of Turkmenistan and Belarus was the signing of the relevant protocol.
