Turkmenistan and UNEP discuss environmental issues

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen met today on cooperation in the field of ecology, climate change and nature protection. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side noted that addressing climate change issues is an essential part of sustainable development. In this regard, Turkmenistan confirmed the initiative to establish the Regional Climate Technology Center for Central Asian countries in Ashgabat.
Key actions to reduce methane emissions and issues related to the Global Methane Commitment were discussed.

The interlocutors discussed the upcoming meeting of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12.
