The visit was organized within the framework of the joint project of UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan "Support to Strengthening the Institutional and Regulatory Environment for Financial Market Development". The main objective of the visit was to study the legal, regulatory and institutional aspects of securities market development in Armenia and its impact on the national economy.

During the working meetings, the Turkmen delegation visited key financial institutions of Armenia. Among them are the Financial Markets Directorate of the Central Bank of Armenia, the Armenian Stock Exchange, the Central Depository and the Armenian State Economic University.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues - from conceptual approaches and legislative support to listing rules, exchange trading and measures to support investors and issuers. The Turkmen specialists paid special attention to the system of registration of rights to securities and depository accounting.

The knowledge gained in Armenia will be used to improve Turkmenistan's national legislation and securities market institutions in accordance with international standards. Financial market development is an important part of the National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022-2052 and a key element in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
