Turkmenistan participated in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Caspian littoral states

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov headed the Turkmen delegation that took part in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states on December 5. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In his speech, Rashid Meredov called the shoaling of the sea an urgent problem of our time. In this regard, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of forming a five-sided working group for a comprehensive study of the problem of the Caspian Sea level decrease. Turkmenistan expressed readiness to develop a draft legal document that would ensure measures to prevent further shallowing and minimize its consequences.

In addition, one of the main topics of the meeting was energy cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
Representatives of the Caspian littoral countries confirmed their readiness to cooperate on environmental issues in accordance with the decisions taken at the Sixth Caspian Summit in Ashgabat.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Caspian littoral states.
