UNESCO will help Turkmenistan to express itself culturally

Turkmenistan held an online meeting with representatives of the UNESCO on accession to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The talks were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay also took part in it.

Since the above-mentioned Convention is of multifaceted importance, Turkmenistan was represented by several ministries and agencies. Among them were the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Culture, Justice and Education, the State Committee of TV and Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, the State Publishing Service and the Ombudsman's Office.

Representatives of the secretariat of the Convention were also invited by UNESCO to take part in the video meeting and spoke about the sequence of actions to accede to this document, its goals and objectives.

The Turkmen side stressed the commitment of the state to respect both national and universal values, as well as the desire to establish and maintain friendly relations with all countries of the world. The personal contribution of the Turkmen leader to the development of his country's relations with UNESCO and the considerable attention he pays to the preservation of both national and universal human heritage were also noted.

The participants discussed the possibility of Turkmenistan joining the Convention and also considered a wide range of tasks related to this topic.
