Ambassador of Kazakhstan E. Sapiyev held a meeting on December 25which reviewed the questions on the Majilis elections of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, scheduled for January 10, 2021. Representatives of diplomatic missions and global organizations, as well as journalists of local and foreign news agencies were invited to the briefing.
The Ambassador briefed participants on the electoral system of Kazakhstan, the peculiarities of the Parliament and the lower house of the legislative body (Majilis). E. Sapiyev also told about the key points of the reform of the political system in KazakhstanThe following are some of the key points: doubling the registration threshold for political parties, changes in the procedure for holding peaceful assemblies, the formation of a parliamentary opposition institution, and the mandatory inclusion of women and young people in political parties.
According to the diplomat, observer missions from 14 countries and four international organizations are currently registered. Polling Station 266 will be open at the Embassy of Kazakhstan from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2021.
