Today, May 11, 2021, in Xi'an, the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Cooperation Committee, Vice Prime Ministers Serdar Berdymukhamedov and Han Zhen held talks. The representatives of China and Turkmenistan reviewed the current level of interaction and the potential for expanding Turkmen-Chinese strategic cooperation. The key topic of the meeting was the intensification of trade and economic partnership.
Serdar Berdymukhamedov emphasized that China is a major trade partner of our state, and Turkmenistan aims to implement a plan for the development of bilateral dialogue in a number of vectors, maintaining cooperation at the highest level.
Representatives of Turkmenistan and China stated that the key area of partnership at the moment is the gas sector. The sides also expressed mutual interest in expanding mutually beneficial transport, communication, financial, banking and technological cooperation. Turkmen delegation proposed to consider the possibility of enhancing partnership in small business through improving the mechanism of establishing direct business contacts between commercial and government agencies.
Given the positive experience of health cooperation, Turkmenistan and China will optimize cooperation in this area as well.
There was unanimous agreement on the need to intensify the activities of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee aimed at selecting the key vectors of trade and economic partnership and developing a favorable ground for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
