The number of greenhouse farms increases in Turkmenistan

The number of greenhouse farms in Turkmenistan is increasing. In 2021, SPPT members will allocate an additional 35 hectares for new shelters for growing crops.

Six greenhouses have already been put into operation, which were built by farms in all regions of Turkmenistan. Thus, farmers of individual enterprises "Daskömür" and "Oguzýoly" are going to cultivate tomatoes in greenhouses. Their greenhouses are located in Akhal velayat, in the territories of Ak Bugday and Kaahki districts, respectively. Entrepreneur Sapardurdy Naliyev from Turkmenbashi was not only able to provide his plants with innovative care through high-tech equipment, but also organized exports of his crops.

In Mary velayat, there is a greenhouse enterprise IP "Mahriban oba", which occupies 8 hectares. In the shelters located in Sakarchagin etrap entrepreneurs plan to harvest tomato varieties characterized by high productivity all year round.

The new generation of greenhouses began to develop in Dashoguz province "Altyngalagurlyşyk" IE. Already by the end of 2020, their greenhouse facility in Goroghly produced more than 900 tons of vegetables. The "Altyn bürgüt" IE operating in Chardjevo etrap of Lebap velayat also uses innovative ways to grow vegetables indoors.

According to SPPT, more than 150 greenhouses are being erected in agricultural areas of the country, the total area of which is 1,375 hectares. At the same time, more than a hundred greenhouses are already operating in our country. The total area allocated for them exceeds 350 hectares.

Greenhouse farms have recently taken an important place in the support of food security. With their help, Turkmenistan citizens are provided with the freshest products throughout the year, as well as jobs. Foodstuffs cultivated by private entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan meet not only domestic needs of the country but are also exported abroad. For example, Turkmen tomatoes are very popular in the CIS market.

In the future the area of greenhouse farms as well as the range of agricultural products grown by them will only grow. This will increase both the export potential of Turkmenistan and the development of the agro-industrial complex within the country.
