First snowfall in Kopetdag

The first snowfall this season fell in the Central Kopetdag Mountains the day before, reports meteojurnal.ru. On the night of November 7, it rained in the foothills, including Ashgabat, and it got very cold. The first snow fell in the mountains.

Snow covered the main peaks of the mountains, on average above the mark of 2100-2200 meters above sea level. The highest point of the region is Mount Riza (2942 meters). It is located on the territory of Iran. Its peak is a few hundred meters from the Turkmen-Iranian border. Within Turkmenistan, the maximum height of Mount Shah Shah is 2,912 meters.

Also on November 7, the first frosts were recorded in the plain part of Turkmenistan in the northwest of the country. In Chagyl in Balkan velayat, for example, up to -3.5 degrees below zero. However, it is noted that this is within the climatic norm for November.
