EU-CA Youth Forum starts in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat hosts Central Asian Youth Forum

The Central Asian Youth Forum "Health and Sustainable Development as a Path to Peace" opened at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan. The event brought together young leaders, experts and government representatives from Central Asian countries, the European Union and other states. The Forum is organized by the EU's Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP 7) together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The event is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and takes place within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Azat Ataev, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Makhtumkuli Akmuradov, CADAP 7 Director Ernest Robello and Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan Maciej Madalinski spoke at the opening ceremony.

The main objectives of the forum were to strengthen the potential of young people, create networks of activists, promote cultural exchange and develop regional cooperation. Participants discuss issues of addiction prevention, mental health, environmental culture and innovative approaches in education.

Tomorrow, sessions are scheduled on digital platforms, artificial intelligence and support for youth startups. At the end of the forum it is planned to adopt a final document and a roadmap for strengthening cooperation between the youth of Central Asia and the EU.

A cultural program has been prepared for the participants, including a visit to the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet.
