An introductory seminar on conservation and rational use of resources of the Aral Sea basin and adjacent land areas was held in Ashgabat on November 10.
The project on preservation of the Aral Sea ecosystems is implemented by UNDP, Ministries of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan. The project is financed by the Global Environmental Fund.
During the meeting, R. Nurmukhamedov, head of the UNDP Programme Department, stressed the importance of the project and the positive impact it should have on the implementation of the National Aral Program for 2021-25.
Among the priority issues of the seminar were discussed goals, objectives, strategies for implementing the project and interaction with key partners. Attention was paid to the development of the Annual Work Plan for 2023.
