The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea held a Turkmen-Korean conference "Makhtumkuli Fraghi and World Values" on June 9, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
The conference was attended by heads, students, professors and teachers of universities of the Republic of Korea and Turkmenistan. Director of the Research Center of Hanyang University Om Gu Ho made an opening speech, telling about the interest of scientists around the world in the life and work of the great poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea B. Durdyev also spoke at the conference, calling Makhtumkuli Fraghi the founder of Turkmen literature.
The participants of the large-scale event noted that the translation of Makhtumkuli's poems into Korean and other world languages will provide invaluable assistance to the world scientific community in the study of Turkmen literature and culture.
