Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub made their first spacewalk in 2024 on April 25. This was reported by the TurkmenPortal online publication.
The cosmonauts were tasked with installing the "Quartz" and "TKK-KM" equipment on the "Poisk" module and fully opening the second panel of the small-size radar of the "Napor-minIRSA" experiment on the "Nauka" module. This was the seventh spacewalk for Oleg Kononenko and the second for Nikolay Chub.
Kononenko worked in Orlan-MKS spacesuit No. 5 with red stripes, Chub - in a spacesuit with blue stripes. The duration of the spacewalk was 6 hours and 36 minutes. A live broadcast of the operations in open space was carried out on the Roscosmos YouTube channel.
Oleg Kononenko is a native of Turkmenabat and was awarded the title of Hero of Turkmenistan in 2019.
