A meeting of the UNODC CASC network was held in Ashgabat

The regular plenary meeting of the Central Asia and South Caucasus Network (CASC) of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was held in Ashgabat on September 11-13. Arzuw.news reports citing a source.

The main objective of the three-day event was to strengthen cooperation between the competent authorities of Member States to address mutual legal assistance and extradition issues in the fight against regional crime.

The participants of the meeting exchanged positive experiences, discussed measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation and analyzed statistical indicators of the network's activities. Special attention was paid to problematic issues in the field of countering crime.

During the meeting, the experts addressed issues related to combating organized crime, including trafficking in persons, trafficking in narcotic drugs and cybercrime. Best practices of central authorities of different countries in the field of extradition and legal assistance were also presented.

Plenary sessions of the CASC network are aimed at creating effective channels of interaction to address pressing security issues in the Central Asia and South Caucasus region.
