Turkmenistan's Alymukhammet Kakalyev won a bronze medal at the 22nd Asian Karate Championship among cadets and juniors under 21. This is reported by the Internet edition "Westiabad."
The competition was held from August 22 to 25 in Manila, Philippines of the WKF Asian Karate Federation.
The championship was attended by 561 karateka from 30 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by a team of 15 people, including 10 karateka, 2 coaches and 3 judges of international category.
The Turkmen athlete managed to win a bronze medal in kumite in the 57 kg age category, in which 18 competitors contested the award. Kakalyev achieved third place by defeating three karate athletes.
Ranking points from international competitions give athletes the right to participate in the IV Summer Youth Olympic Games in the city of Dakar in 2026.
