Turkmenistan draws with Kyrgyzstan at CAFA Cup

Turkmenistan's soccer players drew with Kyrgyzstan's team at CAFA Nations Cup 2025

Turkmenistan's national team ended in a 1-1 draw against Kyrgyzstan in the group stage of the Central Asian Football Association Nations Cup (CAFA Nations Cup 2025). Arzuw.news reports with reference to Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The meeting was held in Tashkent, where Group A matches are held. Turkmen footballers opened the scoring in the 44th minute thanks to Vepa Jumaev's debut goal for the national team. However, in the next minute Joel Kojo restored the balance by scoring the return goal for the Kyrgyz team.

The second CAFA Nations Cup tournament is being held in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan with the participation of eight teams divided into two groups. Group A features teams from Oman and Uzbekistan in addition to Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. Group B includes teams from Afghanistan, India, Iran and Tajikistan, which play at the Central Stadium of Hissar, 12 kilometers from Dushanbe.

Other matches in the first round of Group A also featured a 1-1 draw between Uzbekistan and Oman. The goals were scored by Nasser Al Rawahi in the 4th minute and Khojimat Erkinov in the 55th minute.

In Group B, Iran and India are the leaders with three points each. The Iranians defeated Afghanistan 3-1, while the Indian team beat Tajikistan 2-1.

In the second round, which will be held September 2, Turkmen players will meet Uzbekistan, and the Kyrgyz team will play against Oman.

The tournament serves as an important stage of preparation for the Turkmen national team before the fall matches of the Asia Cup-2027 qualification. In October and November, the Turkmen players will face Sri Lanka (October 9 and November 14) and Chinese Taipei (November 18).
