A festive event was held in the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan in honor of the 145th anniversary of the birth of Viktor Uspensky, People's Artist of Turkmenistan, musicologist and ethnographer. This is reported by the Internet edition "AsmanNews.
During the event, library specialists told about Uspensky's life and creative path, showed fragments of the tape "Secrets of Mukam". It was noted that Viktor Uspensky is considered the founder of the study of traditional music of Central Asia.
As part of his musical and ethnographic expeditions, Uspensky transcribed more than 350 folk songs and melodies, some of which were included in the monograph "Turkmen Music". Uspensky was honored with the titles of People's Artist of the Turkmen and Uzbek SSR, a school in Tashkent and a street in Ashgabat bear his name.
