Today, October 23, the Days of Turkmenistan Culture opened in Albuquerque (USA), which will continue for 2 days. This bright event is timed to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi. This is reported by the online edition Orient.
On the eve of the event, a representative delegation of 30 cultural and artistic figures of Turkmenistan arrived in Albuquerque, Ashgabat's twin city. Spectators are waiting for exciting performances by Turkmen artists, as well as exhibitions dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. According to the official website website organizer of the "Days of Turkmenistan 2" concert, the event will be held at the Kiva Room of the Albuquerque Convention Center, October 24 at 19:00. Admission is free for everyone who wishes to attend.
Of particular note is the upcoming creative meeting at the University of New Mexico. It will feature Mahtumkuli Fraghi's poems in the original and in English translations. Different aspects of his multifaceted creativity and philosophy will be touched upon.
This is not the first time such cultural exchange between Turkmenistan and the United States. In 2013, on the 290th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi, Albuquerque also hosted the Days of Turkmen Culture, when 70 Turkmen artists presented an unforgettable concert to the American public in the ballroom of the Hyatt Hotel in the city center. Over the past decade, interest in the rich Turkmen culture in the United States has only grown. Therefore, the current tour is causing unprecedented excitement and promises to become one of the brightest cultural events of the fall in Albuquerque.
