President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov spoke at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which was held in Dushanbe on October 10, according to the online news resource Asmannews.
In his speech, the head of state emphasized the importance of the CIS as a platform for equal and constructive dialogue. The President noted that the CIS countries maintain active contacts on foreign policy, economic and humanitarian issues, develop intergovernmental cooperation and cooperate with international organizations.
The President said that one of the main tasks remains to ensure stability and security in the region. Turkmenistan is in favor of strengthening good-neighborly relations, mutual understanding between CIS countries and development of political and diplomatic consultations.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid special attention to the observance of international law and the UN Charter. The head of state recalled the UN General Assembly Resolution "Cooperation between the UN and the CIS" adopted on August 6, 2025 and proposed to intensify the work of foreign policy agencies in this direction.
In the economic sphere, the President of Turkmenistan prioritized the implementation of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030. The President stressed the importance of strengthening the production and technological potential of the Commonwealth, development of North-South and East-West transport corridors, as well as the role of Central Asia and the Caspian region as key logistics centers. Turkmenistan is ready to assist in the formation of the Caspian logistics hub and use the country's port infrastructure in the interests of the association.
The head of state noted the need to develop mutual trade, joint production projects and technological cooperation, and called scientific and technical dialog an important area of partnership in the CIS. In the humanitarian sphere, he emphasized the importance of cultural and educational ties as a basis for mutual understanding and strengthening the traditional values of the Commonwealth peoples.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov reminded that in 2025 Turkmenistan celebrates the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality and invited the leaders of the CIS countries to participate in the anniversary celebrations and the International Forum of Peace and Confidence to be held in Ashgabat on December 12.
In conclusion, the President thanked President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for the country's effective chairmanship of the CIS and CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev for coordinating the work of the CIS bodies.
