In connection with the announcement of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world, the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan held a round table dedicated to the culture of Anau. This is reported by the Internet edition "CentralAsia.news".
One of the most notable cultural monuments of ancient Anau is the Seyit Jemaledin Mosque. The participants of the roundtable emphasized that the decoration of the mosque's mosaic portal testifies to the high development of architecture in the city. The mosque was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1948, but this does not diminish the interest of foreign tourists, scientists and representatives of creative professions in the cultural monument.
It was also noted that photographers of the early 20th century managed to capture the portal of the mosque with a mosaic depiction of dragons in its original form.
