A seminar on prevention of gender-based violence was held in Turkmenistan

On November 18 and 19, an OSCE workshop was held in Ashgabat to discuss recommendations from a needs assessment on responding to and preventing gender-based violence. This was reported by the online edition "AsmanNews.

The two-day seminar was organized within the framework of a project to help strengthen mechanisms for preventing and responding to gender-based violence. This project is implemented by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat with the support of the governments of Norway and the United States.

As emphasized by John McGregor, Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, gender-based violence is of a global nature and all countries, regardless of culture or socio-economic status, are subject to it. The seminar was attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, law enforcement officials and representatives of public organizations.
