Ashgabat City Telephone Network continues to work on the introduction of technology of gigabit passive optical network, called GPON. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
Optical cables have already been laid to high-rise residential complexes in the south of Ashgabat, a large residential complex "Tyaze Zaman" in the north-west of the capital, residential area "Parahat 7/2", as well as to cottages of residential complex "Choganly", houses on Senagat Street, 11th micro-district, houses located between Bitarap Turkmenistan Avenue and Gurbansoltan Eje Avenue.
In total, about 18 thousand points of the GPON system are used.
Telecommunication companies are actively modernizing existing telecommunication systems with the introduction of GPON technology in the cities of Arkadag, Turkmenabat and etraps, providing the population with access to telephony, television and high-speed Internet.
