Expert Allaberdy Ilyasov told about the usefulness of miscanthus for phytostabilization of lands contaminated with inorganic trace elements. This is reported by the online edition of Vestiabad.ru.
Miscanthus is a herbaceous plant belonging to the cereal family. In nature, it is most often found in Southeast Asia, less often in the Far East and Africa. Miscanthus is used for landscape design.
Now miscanthus is being actively introduced into agriculture in Turkmenistan. The grass is used for biomass cultivation at the same time with ecological rehabilitation of heavily polluted and lost fertility lands, and also from miscanthus it is possible to obtain large yields for various purposes.
Miscanthus is able to absorb tellurium, which leads to a decrease in its concentration in the ground. This plant helps to enhance sequestration, minimize soil toxicity, and improve the physical and chemical parameters of the land in accordance with agricultural requirements.
