On January 19, 2021, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, as well as research institutions of the country, met online with virological experts from Germany. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Minister of Health N. Amannepesov, while the German side was represented by Dr. A. Krawczyk, who is a professor at the Center for Virology at the Essen University Hospital.
The central topic of the meeting was a discussion of the therapeutic features of licorice root. Special attention was paid to its active component - the substance called glycyrrhizic acid. It is noted that the effectiveness of this drug was confirmed by studies conducted by both scientists of Turkmenistan and representatives of foreign scientific circles.
At the moment, scientists around the world are focusing their efforts on finding new effective drugs to counter the spread of the pandemic.
Scientific studies have confirmed the therapeutic and preventive effects of drugs based on licorice root, as well as glycyrrhizic acid, which is part of its composition.
Licorice root has long been used in folk medicine to treat diseases of the upper respiratory tract. By order of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov Scientists in Turkmenistan continue to work on researching the properties of the above plant.
