The number of medals Turkmen athletes won at the six International Solidarity Weightlifting Games in Tashkent reached 15.
Yulduz Dzhumabaeva (21), competing in the weight category of 49 kilograms among women, lifted 168 kilograms and won a silver medal. Jumabaeva, a fourth-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sport, managed to lift 96 kilograms in the clean and jerk and became the winner. On the snatch she lifted 72 kilograms and got the 2nd place.
Kristina Shermetova (26), a third-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sport, competing in the women's under-55 kg weight category, won three bronze medals. She lifted 85 kilograms in the snatch, 110 kilograms in the jerk and 195 kilograms in the overall standings.
Seytjan Mirzaev (25), competing in the men's 61-kilogram weight category, won gold and bronze medals. The coach of the sports school #3 of Daynau, Lebap velayat Main Department of Sports and Youth Policy, Mirzayev lifted 130 kilograms in the snatch and was awarded a gold medal.
According to the information provided by Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, weightlifting coach of the sports school #5 of the Main Department of Sports and Youth Policy of Mary province Aisoltan Toichieva, performing in the weight category up to 87 kilograms among women, won three silver medals. In the overall standings Toichieva lifted 203 kilograms, 86 kilograms on the snatch, 117 kilograms in the jerk.
Rustem Annadurdyev, a 3rd year student of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, won three bronze medals in the weight category up to 81 kilograms among men. Annadurdyev lifted 147 kilograms in the snatch, 177 kilograms in the jerk and 224 kilograms in the overall standings. The result, shown by the 4th year student of the above-mentioned institute Pirguly Pirgulyev in the weight category of 89 kilograms among men was awarded a bronze medal.
Eight athletes from Turkmenistan are taking part in this championship.
The 6 International Solidarity Weightlifting Games, featuring 116 athletes from 37 countries, is a qualifying round for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
Currently on the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Tokyo 2020 qualifying list, Yulduz Dzhumabayeva ranks first among the top scores shown in the 45-kilogram weight class. In terms of total points earned, Dzhumabayeva is in fourth place with a score of 2,180 points. Kristina Shermetova occupies the 12th place in the women's 55-kilogram weight category by the number of points, and Seytjan Mirzayev occupies the 20th place in the men's 61-kilogram weight category.
The championship in Tashkent will last until February 12.
