A meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Istanbul Process was held, which was also attended by delegates from Turkmenistan. The event was held in Dushanbe in hybrid mode. The IX Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process conference brought together heads and delegates of foreign policy departments of both participating states and those who support the process. Members of international associations were also invited to participate.
The conference participants heard a video address by the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry R. Meredov. In his report, he reinforced the previously stated official opinion of the state on the normalization of the situation in Afghanistan, noting that a peaceful settlement will only be possible if all the interested and responsible parties are involved. The Minister stressed that the Central Asian region and Afghanistan are a single geo-economic and geopolitical space.
The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry emphasized that Turkmenistan is actively working to develop several large-scale infrastructure programs of international importance. At the moment, two neighboring states and the South Asian region are involved in their implementation. This includes not only mounting of the TAPI gas pipeline, but also construction of power lines and broadband lines from Turkmenistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan, construction of railway routes between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Transport and transit projects, such as the Lazurite corridor, are also actively developing. All this is important for the development of such segments of the economy as communication, transport and energy, which will ensure Afghanistan's all-round development.
Turkmenistan has confirmed its intention to work more actively in bilateral and multilateral formations in order to strengthen stability and peace in Afghanistan. The state is ready for its political space to be used for peaceful dialogue.
The conference resulted in the Dushanbe Declaration.
