President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov June 30 received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Faryal Leghari, who presented her credentials.
During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed greetings from the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the leadership of Turkmenistan.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan and Pakistan share friendly relations and common spiritual, cultural and historical values. He noted that Pakistan is one of Turkmenistan's most important partners in the South Asian region.
The sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, energy, transportation, education, cultural and humanitarian fields.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of major regional projects, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, fiber-optic communication line and power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.
President Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including cooperation in the fields of education, science and healthcare.
Ambassador Faryal Leghari assured that she will make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
