President Berdimuhamedov calls for expansion of trade ties and investment cooperation with Gulf countries

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday called for the expansion of trade ties and investment cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Persian Gulf. This was reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.

Speaking at the summit in Jeddah, Berdymukhamedov said that economic cooperation between the two regions has great prospects. He emphasized the need to consistently increase the volume of mutual trade turnover and to discuss the establishment of the Central Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Berdimuhamedov also said that Turkmenistan is always open for cooperation on the implementation of investment projects in priority sectors of the economy. He proposed to organize the First Investment Forum of Central Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council in Turkmenistan in 2024.

"We believe that the establishment of the Central Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Gulf Cooperation Council will contribute to the further development of trade and economic relations between our countries," Berdimuhamedov said. "We are also ready to cooperate with the Gulf countries in the implementation of investment projects in priority sectors of the economy."

Berdymukhamedov's speech was well received by the Gulf leaders.

The Jeddah Summit was held on July 19, 2023 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The summit was attended by the leaders of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia. The summit discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia.
