President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the summit of the Cooperation Council of Central Asia and the Persian Gulf on July 19, 2023, proposed to form two new platforms for cooperation between the two regions. This is reported by the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan.
In his speech, Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of cultural and humanitarian sphere for the development of mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples. He proposed to create a platform "Cultural Dialogue", which would unite cultural, scientific and artistic figures from Central Asia and the GCC.
Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the importance of environmental protection. According to him, ecology is "one of the key issues on the global development agenda". He suggested creating an Environmental Council of Central Asian states and the GCC to coordinate efforts to protect the environment in the region.
Berdymukhamedov's proposals were welcomed by the leaders of the countries participating in the summit.
The CA-GCC Summit is organized to discuss issues of mutual interest between the two regions, such as economic cooperation, security and regional development.
The Cultural Dialogue platform and the Environmental Council proposed by the President of Turkmenistan will be new additions to the existing cooperation structure between Central Asia and the GCC. These platforms will provide a forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge between the two regions in the field of culture and environmental protection.
