Violinist from Turkmenistan wins prize at international competition

Dzhemal Agadzhanova, a violinist from Turkmenistan, won a prize at an international competition. The girl is a second-year student at the Maya Kulibayev Turkmen National Conservatory. Maya Kulieva, in the department of string instruments. The event, centered in the French city of Nice, was held online throughout March. Musicians from 30 countries demonstrated their virtuosic mastery of various types of instruments.

Turkmen performer Jemal Agajanova competed for the victory in the violin category, representing the age category of 18 to 20 years old. She won second place, yielding the top of the podium to a violinist from Poland. She chose the first movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Concerto No. 5 as the competition piece. Stella Faramazova, a recognized master of international level, was the concert master of the Turkmen contestant. The performer received a score of 90 points from the jury.

This is not the first time Jemal performs at various prestigious competitions. For example, in 2020 the violinist has already demonstrated her instrument skills at the contest held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. There she took third place among the performers. However, her victory in this competition is an impressive achievement for the entire Turkmen violin school.

As Agadzhanova herself says, she comes from a musical family. Her father teaches at the conservatory, and her sister also plays the violin and passes on her knowledge to young talents from Ashgabat Art School No. 2. Although Jemal was divided between violin and piano at the beginning of her journey, her sister's example served as a convincing argument in favor of stringed instruments.

The girl has been playing the violin since she was 6 years old. Maral Byashimovna Cherkezova, her teacher at the Special Music Boarding School at TNK, remembers her with love and gratitude. It was she who taught the young violinist all the tricks of the instrument, thanks to which Jemal was able to win the competition of graduates of musical educational institutions, held at the state level in 2019. And this, in turn, contributed to the fact that the girl continued to improve her skills in the walls of the conservatory.

Although the path to success can be difficult at times, the violinist describes her determination as the driving force that helps her reach new heights. Dzhemal continues to improve and actively prepares for upcoming competitions.
