Turkmenistan to host the Third UN Conference on LLDCs

Progress through partnership will form the basis of the Awazi Action Agenda

Ashgabat, July 31 - Arzuw.news. Turkmenistan will host the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the coming days, which will affect the interests of more than 570 million people from 32 countries. This is reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The event will be held in August 2025 in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza" under the motto "Ensuring Progress through Partnerships". The decision to hold the conference in Turkmenistan was unanimously adopted on April 11 at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Landlocked developing countries represent a growing market of $836 billion. The population of these countries is projected to exceed 1 billion by 2060.

The conference program includes seven main tracks and preliminary events. The Civil Society Forum, Youth and Parliamentary Forums will open on August 4, and the Private Sector Forum and Intergenerational Dialogue will take place on August 5.

Preparations for the international forum are underway at the highest level. On July 4, the President of Turkmenistan signed a special decree on preparations for the conference. On July 13, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Organizational State Committee for the preparation of the event.

On July 24, within the framework of his working trip to Balkan province, Hero-Arkadag familiarized himself with the readiness of Avaza NTZ and Turkmenbashi International Airport to receive the conference participants.

This will be the third conference of this scale, following meetings in Almaty in August 2003 and Vienna in November 2014. The event will also include thematic exhibitions, national days of Central Asian states and a gala concert.
