Turkmenfilm is preparing a movie for the 100th anniversary of cinema

A new movie will tell the history of the national cinematography

The Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association has started creating a documentary-publicistic film "Keşplerde yaşayan ykballar" dedicated to the upcoming centenary of Turkmen cinematography in 2026. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The script was written by Ore Dashgynov, the film was directed by Rakhymberdi Annagulyev. The tape will introduce the audience to the key figures of the national cinema - directors, artists and cameramen, as well as show the process of making famous Turkmen films.

The film will combine documentary footage with action sequences recreating working moments in the lives of filmmakers. Filming is planned in Ashgabat, Akhal and Balkan provinces.

February 7, 1926, when a film factory was organized in Ashgabat, is considered the birthday of Turkmen cinema. The first feature film "I will return" directed by Alexander Ledashchev was released in 1935 based on the poem "Batrak" by Oraz Tachnazarov.

The 1940 film "Dursun" directed by Yevgeny Ivanov-Barkov, where Alty Karliev started his career, was an important milestone. A separate block of the documentary will be dedicated to Turkmen animation - the first cartoon "Bevenjik" was created by director Mejek Chariev in 1975.

The final part of the tape will cover the modern stage of development of the national cinematography.
