Turkmenistan and the USA discuss cooperation in the sphere of ecology

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with U.S. President's Special Representative for Climate Change John Kerry in New York on September 19. This was reported earlier this week by the publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The report says that at the meeting the politicians discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of ecology. The sides reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen partnership relations in this area.

Special attention was paid to environmental aspects of sustainable development. The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that his country is focused on "green" economy and introduction of clean technologies. In particular, he informed about plans to initiate the establishment of the Regional Climate Center in Central Asia. 

In turn, the U.S. side highly appreciated Turkmenistan's efforts to address environmental issues. Special Representative John Kerry expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection.

Following the meeting, the participants noted their mutual interest in strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States to achieve global climate goals.
