Turkmenistan and Afghanistan put a new power line into operation

The power line was launched today in a teleconference format Kerki (Turkmenistan)-Shibargan (Afghanistan). After solemn speeches of the heads of the fraternal states, the participants of the event were shown the process of electricity transmission using a simulation model.

To ensure supply of electricity in Lebap velayat of Turkmenistan, a gas turbine power station, "Kerki" substation and overhead transmission line to the border with Afghanistan were built. The first cities of Andkhoy, Shibargan and Mazar-e-Sharif will receive electricity from our country. By the beginning of 2022, supplies will be provided to the cities of Pul-i-Khumri and Kabul.

The new 153-kilometer, 500-kilowatt line is part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan transmission line project.
