Turkmenistan and Russia will hold talks on further cooperation. For this purpose, Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, will arrive in Moscow on a working visit on February 22, 2022. During this visit, he will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two diplomats will discuss topical issues of Turkmen-Russian cooperation in such areas as cultural and humanitarian, trade and economic and educational cooperation.
The parties will also consider opportunities for further bilateral partnerships within the framework of interstate formations at the level of heads of foreign affairs agencies. These include the CIS, the OSCE, the UN and CA5+Russia.
Separately, the preparation and holding of the Sixth Caspian Congress, which will be held in Turkmenistan, will be discussed. Also among the hot topics are security in the region and collective response to challenges and dangers affecting both countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry notes that Turkmen-Russian cooperation continues to develop actively, and even covidual restrictions do not hinder this process. Turkmenistan is among Russia's key partners in Central Asia. The bilateral relations between the two countries continue to be friendly and the political dialogue is characterized by trust. The states are united by a common past, and the fundamental interests of the Turkmen and Russian peoples guarantee the continuation of mutual cooperation in the same vein.
The heads of Turkmenistan's and Russia's foreign ministries meet systematically, both with each other and together with other parties.
