Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have recently launched joint projects aimed at developing cross-border trade. An example of such projects is the joint border trade zone at the Shavat-Dashoguz border crossing point.
Internet edition "Centralasia.news". published an analytical article on the growing interest of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in strengthening bilateral ties in the field of transport and logistics.
The analytical material discusses the main trends concerning cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport logistics. Among such trends is the intensification of freight and passenger transportation. In August 2022, the parties came to a full resumption of cargo traffic between the countries after the pandemic by simplifying customs procedures. Along with cargo transportation, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are establishing regular passenger services, and the possibility of simplifying visa requirements for truck drivers is being discussed.
