Ashgabat, July 7 - Arzuw.news. The Türkmendeňizderýaýollary Agency has announced an international tender for the design, supply and construction management of two Ro-Ro railroad ferries and one dry cargo ship for the development of the national maritime fleet. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The large-scale project is being financed under agreements with the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund. Construction of all three vessels will be carried out at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Yard.
The project is aimed at increasing the capacity and efficiency of Turkmenistan's maritime fleet and developing the country's shipbuilding capacity. The implementation of the initiative is designed for sustainable growth of maritime transport and increasing the industry's contribution to the national economy as part of the overall development strategy of the state.
The construction of ships at the Balkan shipyard will create new jobs and improve the qualifications of Turkmen engineers and workers, opening opportunities for the future development of the shipbuilding industry.
