Turkmenistan outlines new vectors of interaction with the WHO

Turkmenistan has identified new vectors of interaction with WHO. To this end, the Turkmen government in cooperation with the Country Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) has developed a set of measures for 2022. They will be carried out systematically and address a number of separate areas of cooperation with the Organization.

The document provides for the implementation of a set of steps, the purpose of which is to prevent infections. These include the implementation of the Influenza Pandemic Preparation Plan and the Guidelines for the Surveillance of Acute Respiratory Infectious Diseases. The training of specialists, the development of clinical practice guidelines for treatment, and the organization of seminars and trainings will also be carried out.

The activities aimed at counteracting the COVID-19 pandemic were also studied very carefully. The issues of infection prevention and implementation of infectious monitoring, popularization of information about the dangers among the population were considered. Also discussed was the creation and implementation of the COVID-19 National Vaccine Prevention Plan. They also discussed the work aimed at implementing the national strategy on combating non-communicable diseases, combating tobacco smoking, maternal and child health, development of a road map for the reform of primary health care, etc.

In addition, the Complex covered the steps aimed at improvement of diplomacy in the field of health, establishment of interaction with the Central Asian Regional Health Information Network (CARINFONET), as well as activities on implementation of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), the development of which was carried out by the WHO. In this connection the issues of staff training on this codifier as well as on coding certification and health surveillance of Turkmenistan citizens were considered. In the complex as a result there were also added the steps aimed at the subsequent digitalization of the Turkmen national health system.

Similar activities are carried out by the Government of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Red Cross and Red Crescent communities.
