Turkmenistan and Afghanistan plan to Strengthen partnerships on water management issues. On November 22, the participants of the relevant commission spoke about it at the 4th meeting. The position of our country was presented by the specialists of the State Committee of Water Resources and the State Border Service, while the position of the Afghan side was presented by the employees of the relevant ministry.
The main focus of the meeting is. prospects for the use of transboundary rivers The two countries (in particular, the effluents of the Amu Darya, Murghab, and Tejen). The participants stressed the importance of rivers for Central Asian countries, as they are the most important source of water resources for population, agriculture, and power generation.
After the meeting, the diplomats signed a protocol on a strategy for further cooperation in the sphere of Turkmen-Afghan water use.
