An important memorandum was signed today in Ashgabat between UNDP, the British Embassy in Turkmenistan and the Government of Turkmenistan on the establishment of a National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory System. This is reported by the publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
This decision is aimed at fulfilling Turkmenistan's commitments under the Paris Agreement to reduce emissions by 20% by 2030.
The system being created will allow government agencies to monitor greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors of the economy and, on this basis, to develop effective climate policy.
According to experts, having reliable data on emissions is essential for developing concrete measures to combat climate change in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
