A two-day international conference on preparedness and countering emerging threats in the field of public health began its work today in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. This is reported by the Neutral Turkmenistan publication.
The event is organized by Turkmenistan with the support of the World Health Organization. The conference is organized in a hybrid format with the participation of representatives of medical institutions of NAM countries, as well as international experts in this field.
Reportedly, the initiative to organize such a representative forum belongs to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. At the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in Baku in March this year, the Turkmen head of state put forward a number of proposals to enhance regional cooperation in the medical sphere.
The main objective of this conference is to strengthen cooperation among the NAM member countries in confronting new challenges in the field of public health protection. It is also planned to discuss the creation of a unified information databank and the exchange of best practices in combating infectious diseases.
