Japan's Sumitomo Corporation has signed a contract with Turkmen company Türkmenawtoulaglary worth over $115 million to supply vehicles for the cab service and buses for passenger transportation. This was reported by Centralasia.news portal with reference to the official website of the Japanese corporation Sumitomo, which posted information about the contracts with Turkmenistan.
The first contract for the supply of 860 vehicles was signed in the summer of 2021. The purchase amounted to 20 million dollars. In November 2022 followed by another contract for 1,250 units of Toyota brand vehicles for a total value of 95 million dollars.
Deliveries of cars are already underway. So, as of November of this year, Turkmenistan has already received 469 cars for cab services.
