Weightlifter Yulduz Jumabayeva won the first medal in the history of Turkmenistan at the CIS Games. This is reported on the website of Orient news.
Yulduz was awarded a silver medal in the weight category up to 49 kg. According to the results of two disciplines, the Turkmen athlete took a total weight of 161 kg, losing 10 kg to Russian athlete Elizaveta Zhatkina. The third place on the podium was taken by athlete from Vietnam Thi Ngoc Anh Do with a total of 148 kg.
Turkmenistan is taking part in the CIS Games for the first time. A delegation of 110 people went to represent the country at the tournament. 80 athletes from Turkmenistan will compete for medals in 13 sports, including Thai boxing, boxing, karate, judo, sambo, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, light and weightlifting, men's basketball, shooting and archery.
