Y. Aronsky: "The summit held in Ashgabat should give an impetus to deepening trilateral cooperation"

August 4 in Ashgabat took place A trilateral summit of the leaders of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening cooperation between the neighboring countries of Central Asia. Yuri Aronsky, Chairman of the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan, shared his opinion about the summit with Arzuw NEWS.

During the talks, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan, Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan discussed political, economic, energy, water and transportation ties. Bilateral meetings of the heads of state also took place on the sidelines.

Following the talks, the leaders of the three countries adopted a joint statement emphasizing the importance of trilateral cooperation for strengthening regional peace and security. They agreed on the need to jointly combat terrorism, separatism and extremism in Central Asia.

The statement noted the potential for cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure and routes linking the three countries. Special attention was paid to the integrated use of water and energy resources, in particular, the rational use of the Amu Darya River flowing through their territories.

According to the expert, the summit was aimed at deepening trilateral cooperation and developing common positions before a broader regional meeting of Central Asian leaders to be held this September in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Aronsky also added that the Ashgabat summit underscored the commitment of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to strengthen ties and coordinate policies on issues critical to the future stability and development of Central Asia.
