The match against the Angolan athlete was held in the weight category up to 66 kg. Having overcome 1/16, the judoka from Turkmenistan Serdar Rakhimov advanced to the 1/8 finals of the Olympics.
Brazilian judoka Willian Lima was Serdar Rakhimov's opponent in the 1/8 finals.
