Students of 17 universities of Turkmenistan took part in a boxing tournament as part of the 13th Universiade. This was reported by the Mir.24 online edition.
The competitions were held in Ashgabat at the Tyaze Zaman physical culture and health complex. 94 athletes competed for medals in eight weight categories. The team of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports became the winners in the team competition. The second place was won by students of the State Institute of Architecture and Construction, the third place - by boxers of the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Dovlet Mukhanov, a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, said that the fight was not a hard one for him, as he got a newcomer as an opponent. But in the future, he said, a more experienced athlete may enter the ring during the Universiade.
The 13th Summer Universiade has already included wrestling competitions among students.
