On October 3, Ashgabat hosted discussions on the launch of the Trans-Caspian Corridor coordination platform with the participation of delegations from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Turkey, Turkmenistan and other countries. This is reported by the online edition "Westiabad."
During the meeting, issues related to the development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor were discussed. The parties paid attention to the problems of the Caspian littoral countries that do not have direct access to the sea. The need to improve the infrastructure along the Trans-Caspian Corridor was emphasized. In particular, the parties noted the importance of building railways and roads, upgrading ports, and creating logistics centers.
European Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen emphasized the ambitiousness of the project and expressed readiness to cooperate with the CA countries. The participants of the meeting also noted the readiness to expand partnership in the spheres of transportation and logistics.
